Privacy Policy

AI Engineer Path ("the site") is an independent educational website run by one person. This policy explains what data we collect, what we do with it, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent laws.

Short version: we collect almost nothing ourselves. No accounts, no tracking pixels of our own. The site shows ads from Google AdSense, and Google uses cookies for them; if you're in the EU/EEA, UK or Switzerland you're asked first. The only personal data that reaches us directly is what you choose to share when you send an email.

1. Who runs this site

AI Engineer Path is operated as a personal side project by a single engineer. For data protection questions or to exercise your rights under GDPR, reach me through the contact page.

2. What we collect, and why

Reading the site

Static pages and articles. No login, no cookies set by us. Your browser stores some preferences (light/dark theme, which articles you have marked read) in your own browser's local storage. That data never leaves your device.

Contacting us

If you send an email, we keep the email so we can reply and so we can find prior context if you write again later. Emails are stored on a standard email provider (currently Cloudflare Email Routing → personal inbox).

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and privacy-focused. It records aggregated page views and referrers, but does not fingerprint you or track you across sites. Cloudflare's privacy disclosures: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Advertising

The site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads and measure them, which can include ads based on your visits to this and other sites. How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you're in the EU/EEA, UK or Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your permission before ad cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with the Privacy choices link in the footer. You can also turn off personalised ads for your Google account at myadcenter.google.com.

RSS feed

If you subscribe via an RSS reader, we do not know who you are. The server simply serves rss.xml to anyone who asks.

3. What we do not do

• No user accounts.
• No selling, sharing, or renting of personal data.
• No behavioural profiling.
• No newsletter without explicit opt-in (if a newsletter form exists, signing up is optional and you can unsubscribe with one click).

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Contact emails: we process the email you send under legitimate interest (replying to correspondence).
• Advertising: ad cookies are set only with your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and the ePrivacy rules), collected by Google's consent message. Visitors who decline get non-personalised ads.
• Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or persistent identifiers and so is treated as anonymous aggregate statistics, not personal data under GDPR. It doesn't need consent.

5. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you, and the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us via the contact page. We typically respond within a few days.

6. Data retention

• Email correspondence: retained until you ask us to delete it, or until our inbox is archived (typically annually).
• Payment records: retained as required by Dutch / EU tax law (typically 7 years).
• Analytics: Cloudflare retains aggregate statistics for the period defined by Cloudflare's own retention policy.

7. Children

AI Engineer Path is aimed at working software engineers. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will move forward and the change will be noted in the site's RSS feed. We will not retroactively make changes that worsen your privacy without your consent.
